My wallet needs to go on a diet!

Well actually not my wallet- that would mean it was fat and filled with wads of monies, that is so not the case. I really mean my spending needs to go on a diet. And so do I, but that's a whole 'nother blog post

I literally don't need anything, but I know I would be setting myself up for failure if I said I was on a spending ban... It just ain't gonna happen!

I bought an unconscionable amount of make up while I was in New York. Unconscionable! I swear on all that is holy in BlogLand that I can and WILL write up a blog post on all my goodies**... Mainly because said BlogLand is wholly responsible for my massive list of wants and when I was set loose in Sephora, I was temporarily mental. Oh Lordy did I go mental?! Luckily I had purchased a new adorable Hello Kitty Suitcase, or I would not have been able to bring it all home.

I was nearly in tears on the flight home, my bags were SO heavy and ridiculously big. I am surprised they let me on the plane. Luckily they thought I was funny. I was wearing a singlet, a long sleeved top, a woolly dress, a knitted top, a fur vest, my massive winter jacket and was struggling with my bags... Security jokingly asked if I was headed to Antarctica .. When I said Australia, they were baffled 'isn't it summer there?'... I confessed I couldn't fit all my clothes into my bags. Oh how they laughed... at my expense. All I cared about was getting all my goodies back home.

I was also afraid the handles on my Hello Kitty case were going to break... All is well, we made it home in one piece.

What was I really blogging about? Oh yes, a spending ban of course. I am really trying to actively shop for quality and not quantity. Also, I am in debt like no one's business, and can't really afford to buy anything... So, naturally a bazillion things have popped up that I want... and they fit the "quality" criteria... Plus I realllllly want 'em! Woe is me.

Another thing I need to work on is actually using my stuff. I tend to just want, want, want and then when I get it, I go all "my precious" over it and never actually use it... I am working on it though. For awhile there, the worst culprit was Glasshouse candles... but I have actually been burning them lately! Well, truth be told the first one I finished, was one I wasn't too fussed over, so that made it a lot easier.

Case in point, I just bought a new leather laptop case on eBay... Firstly, I don't even know if my laptop will fit inside it, and secondly, I don't even need it- I never take my laptop anywhere... but, it is leather, it is pink, and it has perforated hearts on it... Totally fits the quality criteria. And it's cute and I want it.

eBay is a spending ban's nemesis.

** Also I appear to be unable to open all my goodies before I do a blog post. hahaha.

P.S- Not only should my wallet be on a diet, but me also... Eugh. Clean eating here I come.

♡ Week Eight ♡ + Overdue Update!

Hey Lovelies... Slack blogger here!

Ahh, had a nice long weekend in Ole Melbourne Town… Not to be marred by possibly breaking my poor little tootsie- which is actually my big toe. I don’t think it is broken broken, but it is damn sore and may have a fracture or something. I stubbed it on Saturday… It’s Wednesday now and it still hurts? Hmmm. A slight amount of swelling is evident and there is a “line” bruise across the joint. WEIRD. I don’t like thinking about it, it makes me feel strange… You know like, sends shivers.

My activities over the days to follow may not have helped. I had 2 coupons that needed redeeming right away. 5x Pilates Reformer classes and 3x Ballet Barre classes.

I had my first Pilates Reformer class on Sunday. One word. Ouch! Haha.

Even though it was a beginner’s class, I was the only super newbie there… There were only 3 of us, so I got a bit of attention from the trainer. It was kind of embarrassing when she had to reduce my resistance a number of times and I fully had no idea how to use the reformer (the machine). When I got there early, she said ‘just go and stretch on the bar'… well, I didn’t know what in holy heck she was talking to about. I had never even seen one of those machines before, let alone knew where or what the bar was, I was looking for like a ballet barre! Haha! FYI: It’s at the end of the machine, or the top, I still don’t know which was is UP… But, anyway, I survived…

Last night was a ballet barre class, called Xtend barre! I was SCARED! Mainly because I have been looking forward to this barre class for ever and a day and now feared it was going to be troublesome with my toe! I also couldn't delay it, due to the expiration of the coupon!

I perused online and read that the ballet barre class is a no shoe affair, but you can wear socks… I was wearing slip on shoes so I didn’t have socks… Then I read something else online that said I needed dance shoes (um, no) or grip socks (wha?!)… So, I emailed the place and they said I do need socks. Craps. I can either spend $x at the el cheapo shop and not be slip proof and fall on my face, or I can spend $20 at the clinic and buy their special grip sox (not socks, sox, haha). I had a feeling I was going to enjoy this class, so I resigned myself to buying some SOX.

Oh my God, the ballet. Pfft, I thought reformer Pilates was painful... SHIZ! This hurt BAD. ohmigosh. I did LOVE pretending to be Ballerina. Seriously. It's a great workout... 100% highly recommended by yours truly. I mentioned to the instructor that I thought my hips were going to break off and she said I did well (yay! Even though I stopped a few times) and that if I thought my legs hurt then, I will be really cursing her day after next. Eeek. I do feel 'okay' today (except for my tootsie!) but I am fearing tomorrow.

My legs were like jello after class and I was shaking like a leaf on a tree throughout the workout. The great thing about it is that your legs are hurting so bad, so you're concentrating on that and not noticing that you are also holding your arms up Ballerina Style. Yay for not noticing. Then same goes the other way, you concentrate on moving your arms, and forget about the plie (yes, I said plie) you're doing- until your legs start to shake, but then you’re concentrating on your funny little legs shaking and forget about your arms again!

Unfortunately I did find it harder due to my toe. Obviously you don't go en pointe (yep 2x ballet terms used) in these types of classes, but you do go up on the balls of your feet and well that didn't go well for me. I kind of had to shift my weight to the side on my foot, and not below my big toe. I also didn't tell the instructor about my toe... Cos, I wanted to do the class. haha.

Please let my toe be better by next Tuesday. Pretty please!!! I only have 2 more lessons, and 2 weeks left of the voucher... And, I can only go on the Tuesdays.

The thing that has me confuzzled with my toe is the no-serious-bruising factor. I have broken 3 toes in the past and they bruised, but this time, there is barely anything. I asked Dr. Google and was advised bruising 'may become apparent'... hmm, might ask a Pharmacist. I cannot be arsed going to the real Docs. especially not for a maybe-broken toe, that's probably just 'stubbed real bad'. haha. Plus no one can do diddly about a broken tootsie. Although, it’s making me walk like a nutter.

Oh yeh, the weigh-in. haha.

So, week 8...
Now, I had a feeling I wasn't going to lose any weight this week... Mainly due to my PigOut the Sunday prior and also cos it was, y'know, that time of the month... But I lose 500 grams. So, even though that's a pretty small lose (in comparision) I am still pretty happy with it. In 8 weeks I have lost 9.6 kilos with less than 5 kilos left to go. Plus I am only a smidge away from 2 more goals. Losing 10 kgs and being in the 60's!

Tonight is my rest day! I am planning an awesome bubble bath with some sort of delicious bath melts/bombs from LUSH, my new obsession- to which I now been not once, not twice, but THRICE! Must blog about that! I am also planning to have a super scrub, with the BUFFY bar, also from LUSH, to prepare for my spray tan tomorrow night. Ooh yeh, and a face mask... yummmm, also from LUSH.

Oh and by the way, I am C2B (close to Bankrupt), so I am on a spending ban. Big Time. I could not stop shopping over the long weekend- real life and eBay too. Seriously, I may not be able to afford groceries for the next 2 weeks.

On ya bus

OMG guys… Guess what I did?!

Caught Public Transport to workies!!! I’m sure that sounds like no biggie to most peeps, but for me, Miss “I don’t do PT,” it was a massive deal. I’m still a little shaky! Haha. Seriously though, I was nervous, excited and scared.

Best bit? I made it to work. On time!! Woop! (I am also notoriously known as Miss Never-on-time, but that's another story)

Aside from a couple of trips with my Mumsy lately on PT, I pretty much haven’t done Melbourne’s Public Transport since I got my License… in the year 2000!
I did use the Vancouver Public Transport when in Canada, but I had my BF with me, and it seemed like part of the tourist experience and was all about (or aboot, I should say) the Novelty.

I used to catch Public Transport to school. Ever since I was in Grade 3!!!! Yeh, grade 3?! I was itchin' to get my license. itchin'.

I started getting anxiety about 6 or so years ago when around too many people. I am/was (not sure yet) very very self-conscious… And being on PT, trapped, and not having my car in close proximity to go to escape and hide was a position I would never allow myself to get into. Even on nights out with friends, I would either be the designated driver or demand compulsory Taxi Cabs (I always call them Taxi Cabs… got it from my Pop, just like how I call Coles “Coles New World,” just like he used to. aww).

Why did I choose today to use Public Transport?
Well, turns out my Car Park Company haven’t been directly debiting my monthly car park payments (as they had been the months prior), so my card was voided yesterday!!! Arghhhh!! I was on my way to exit and when I swiped it said ‘voided,’ when I spoke to the chap via the intercom, he said I hadn’t paid my bill and to just pay the normal car park fee… Um, I was already in the car park?! I couldn’t drive out and back in again to get a daily card and pay, now could I? He asked me how I had gotten in… Um, with my card, genius! He finally let me through. Phew.

When I got home, I decided to check my pile of car park invoices… Uhm, payments haven’t been made for nearly 6 months!!! So, it’s like a $700 bill!! So, I had 3 choices;

♡ Pull $700 out of my bum,
♡ Pay the $11.50 a day car park fee (full rate)
or
♡ Suck it up and use Public Transport

If I could have pulled the $700 from ‘back there’ I totes would have. But I tried and it didn’t work. Haha. So, I spent the remainder of the night mapping out my PT route! It was hard!! Especially when you aren’t well versed in the Public Transport system… *sighs

Port Melbs is an awesome place to live, but unless you work in, or have a desire to go, the city, PT is quite limited. I work in Prahran, which is not that far, but in order to get there, I had to PT it to the city!! I am scared of the CITY!!! So today was a Double Scaredom Day!! PT aspect and hittin’ The Big Smoke! Eeeouch!

Anyhoozy, I finally worked out the best route for me… It may not be the fastest or whatevs, but it is the most direct and simple. It only involves 2 buses (plus a twaddle across a road. a main road. scary), as opposed to the 13 billion train/tram changes that MetLink wanted me to take according the Journey Planner.

Also, I believe I have been telling myself some little wee porky pies in regards to how much I could potentially save by using PT.

Using my monthly car park pass, it costs me $6.75 a day (not too shabby) but for some unknown reason I have always thought and verbalised that it was $5.50 a day. Façade No. 1.

I usually put in $70 worth of Petroleum every 2 weeks (more or less, mostly less) nut never included that in my costing, I thought it was negligible. Façade No. 2.

So, that takes my daily drive to work $13.75 a day-ish. Getting Pricey, really. On the plus side, it only takes me 30mins of my sweet precious time to get to work when driving and I value my alone time and privacy quite highly.

Onto PT;
A monthly pass will cost me $112.56, which is $5.60 a day (week days only… So /20) and I technically get F R E E transport on weekends… And it only takes me 45 minutes! So, my sweet precious time is hardly gobbled up… And as for privacy and my Alone Time… Pish Posh! Turns out people watching is F U N! Haha. I also only listen to my iPhone in the car anyway, so earphones in and I was laughing; not literally, or I would have looked nutty but there was figurative laughing, that's for sure.

This adorable card holder I acquired to hold my Myki may or may not have sweetened the deal beyond comprehension.

I do love a card. And a swipey card even more so… Top that with an adorably cute cardholder, sprinkled with Pandas, Hearts and a Cupcake, and finished off with Lashings of Pink?! I was S O L D!!

Did I mention it had a sparkle to it?? I didn't? Well it does! It has a sparkle to it... I love it!!

P.S- I can and will work out some sort of payment arrangement with my Car Park Co. Just thought I’d mention that.

Also, just to get the legalities out of the way:

D I S C L A I M E R: The Novelty may or may not wear off this sparkly new obsession I have with the Public Transport System, my Myki card and/or People Watching. Time will tell. Today's results are not typical. Results may vary.
