My Luscious Lush Haul

Well Ladies, here are the goodies I picked up at Lush.

My bestie came along for the excursion, in the end. She called me at work to see what I was doing that night and when I said I was going to the city shopping, she wanted in. Then I said I planned to shop at Lush, she exclaimed ‘what?! that stinky shop?!!!’ haha. So true, my friend, so true.

I have to say I felt really overwhelmed in store, mostly because there are so many products! And also I found the sales peeps to be super pushy! Even after the first one finally let me be, another one pounced!

I thought when I showed them that I had a list, which was pretty long, that maybe- just maybe- they’d see I was on a mission and kinda knew what products I wanted to go for and would just help me find those products. But no, not so much. I got a few ‘if you think you’ll like that, you’ll love this’ and then the thing that they would show me would be just so not in the right direction for me. I'm into creamy, sweet, vanilla and pink. And, to be blunt, I just don’t like being made to feel like a big giant walking dollar sign who they want to just sell sell sell to. I already had a lot on my wish list that I wanted to check out, I didn’t need so much pushiness! If it wasn’t for my ‘I want it now’ trait of impulsiveness, I would have turned around and done my shopping online.

My head was just spinning in the store from all the info and being pulled left, right and centre… In the end, I left happy with my buys but when I got home, I had no idea how to use the stuff! I was given twenty bazzillion demonstrations in the store; some were on my arm, and my hands got some love, there were buckets with water shows and paper towels to dry off. It was fun and I was ooh’ing and ahh’ing a little, I'll admit it, BUT not only was my head spinning and my sense of smell completely overloaded, there was super fast talking selling going on and I forgot everything I was shown when I got home!

I was super excited and very eager to get home and have a bath!!

By the time I lugged all my stuff home, I was exhausted… and had a headache- maybe due to senses overload, or could have been more of a general body overload; I had also I bought other stuff, like 3 pairs of shoes at Rubi, plus all my usual carry around crap junk precious things, or maybe I was just plain tired?! When I peeked into the bag at home,I had so many choices I had a lot of trouble deciding what product to use first.

My legs ached, so I was excited to try a massage bar and went straight for the hottie massage bar. It was so good. Smells delicious!

Next stop was to have some dinner… Then it was time...

Time to draw my bath.

But wait! Where’s the plug?! I could not find the bath plug!!! I had to tear the bathroom apart to locate it! Turns out it is actually the same size as the one for the basin, so I could have avoided that whole debacle in an instant, but I didn’t even think to try it.

hurro, creepy hand wave!

I decided on Mrs Whippy. Mainly because it was one of the first on my list and also it is being discontinued and I want to know if I want/need/must-get more. (the answer to this conundrum to come)

Dropped the bomb!

It was so good. I was surrounded by warmth and the scent was indescribable. I was in LusHeaven!

I loved how my bath was pink… But mostly, oh my sweet Lord, mostly I loved how soft my skin was.
Directly after the bath? heck yeah. When I woke up the next morning? Double heck yeh. Even after my morning shower and exfoliation session? Oh my Gosh YES! You better believe it! I have been getting magical wafts of deliciousness-ness (that's double the deliciousness!). I definitely want more Mrs. Whippy!!!

♡ Lazy blogger; week four and five results ♡

Well hello there, Strangers!

To update a bit on my last post and what’s happened since…

Weight loss;
Well, if I thought my weigh in last week was disappointing, than this latest one was devastating!! Dramatic? Yes. Haha. Seriously though, I put on weight. What the truck?! Now, that’s rude. The thing is, I weighed myself the day before and had lost 1.3kilos for the week, then miraculously weighed an extra 1.7kgs the next morning?? Hey now! C’mon!! *ultimate sad face*

I do know that it is impossible for me to have really gained that much overnight… so, something’s up. I have been having some lady issues of late, but let’s not discuss that! Haha. So, I am assuming that is the issue. None the less, I was and still am disappointed- especially considering this situation hasn’t improved.

In summary, last week (my 4th week weigh in) I lost 600 grams and this week (5th week weigh in) I put on 400 grams. Making my 5 week weigh in total only 5.4kilos.

That’s B + S.

I started the plan on 16th January, so I have been on le diet for 36 days. Feels like so much longer!

If it doesn’t improve next weigh in, I may have to change tactics!

Fitness;
As I noted, I started the C25K program and started my 3rd week last night. Ay, caramba!! It was slightly hard last night… I went from running a maximum of 90secs a pop, to 3 mins. Oh Lordy, was I counting down the seconds!

I actually had a massive headache on Monday- the type that could turn migrainic (not exactly a real word) at a moment’s notice, so I am quite proud that once I felt somewhat better I hauled my butt to le gym. Proud!

Let it be known, my recent spurt of exercise may be causing my weight to halt and that headache I had, which no doubt coincides with my lady issues (which shall not be discussed *wink*) may also have contributed. (so, like I mentioned above if I don’t see an improvement next week, my tactical change may be to increase my food.)

I must say though I feel skinnier and best best best of all, healthier and fitter! I also feel like I am losing pudge differently around my mid-section! As an apple shape, this is paramount to my body shape. I have a secret weapon too… Purchased from the lovely Amazon (linky), I introduce to you my pretty purple, Danksin waist trimmer.

Behold

 What Amazon say:
Fit n' Trim... Our smart waist trimmer belt with comfortable fastener tape closure for an easy, adjustable fit is designed to preserve body heat, promote water loss and provide extra back support during exercise. Quality neoprene construction makes it comfortable, lightweight, durable, and virtually care-free. A great addition to your fitness gear!
Sounds gimmicky, no? Well, I swear I have noticed a difference and I sweat like a mothertrucker around my waist when I wear it and I forgot to bring it to le gym one time and there was a notable difference. I like to sweat. I like to make my fat cry!!

Unfortunately I may lose my gym privileges!! Not 100% sure on that, but I really hope not. Still not brave enough to venture outside.

Thoughts on Benefit Brow Bar...

Alrighty... So, I totally didn't update in a timely fashion at all... But considering I confessed to being the Queen of Procrastination, it isn't all that surprising! Hehe.

Anyhoo, without any further ado, I shall share my thoughts...

This is what I had to say on the Vogue forum a few days after my appointment...

I got my eyebrows done at the Benefit  Brow Bar at Myer Melbourne on Friday (15th July, 2011).

I was a  little shirty that I had to wait quite a while (seeing as I had  made an  appointment), and it wasn't until I said I was leaving that they  said I  was next. There were heaps of walk-ins, so it looked like tonnes  of  people were waiting- I had no idea where I was in the queue.

Aside  from that, I really enjoyed it... I barely felt the waxing part  and  the SA who taught me how to fill in my brows was very patient with   me... and amazingly enough I was able to re-create the look at home!   *gasp*

I’m going to put my before and after pics up on my blog.

P.S-  trimming of the eyebrow hair was weird- I have never had that done  before, and now if I touch my brows they feel funny.

Picture time!

Word of warning... Prior to my appointment, I had been "growing" out my brows for Donkey's Years, so I got my mum to capture the state they were in while we were waiting! You have been warned!

Ouch! Damn you Myer and your super harsh lighting!

The unruliness that was!

Ahhhh much better!

Loving the shape!

Check out that fullness!

Seeing as my before pic is an example of crazy lady brows at their craziest, it's hard for me to convey the fact that the "tail" of my brow is never a nice line like it is in my after pics, even if I get them professionally done.. They tend to just taper off in to a bit of nothing.

Aside from the waiting issue, I really loved the results! I would be more than happy to get my brows done at Benefit again, and again and again.

I actually haven't touched my brows since that appointment waaay back on July 15th- mostly because I didn't want to stuff up the shape with wayward tweezing and also the fact that I had all intentions of getting them done again. Well, let's just say, 11 weeks later (c'mon, WTF?! Queen of Procrastination strikes again!),  I am, yet again, in desperate need and my brows are officially in crazy lady territory again! My closest shopping Centre is Southland, and I don't believe there is a Brow Bar there. No fair! *stamps feet*

I either have to move my tush and get to the Myer Melbourne Brow Bar or go elsewhere... eep.

Updates...

Hello, hello, lovelies!

Woah, let it be known I actually did wash my hair on Friday, as I had planned, but by the time I did so, it was late at night and I really couldn’t be trashed taking any photos, or even using the Milkshake Sugar Frosting supposed regrowth disguiser at all! But my rootage didn’t look as bad as I imagined, so I do still plan to give the Milkshake Sugar Frosting a good trial!

I have a hair appointment on Thursday after workies, and I desperately need to wash my hair prior to that and that will be my very last moment to put the Milkshake Sugar Frosting to the ultimate regrowth test! Lol. Then I can trial it again with a smaller amount of regrowth after Thursday.

The last few days have been pretty drama-filled. My nephew’s half-brother, who is approaching 18, had a melt-down and went pretty nutso’s… Like crazy nuts for no good reason (he got a knife involved?! Wtf?). He got violent towards his Dad, which isn’t the smartest idea, as his Dad is a big strong guy and hadn’t even been antagonising him (which is something he is usually guilty of) and has done nothing but be pretty damn good to him. It was ridiculous… He then went on to run to his Mummy’s (who had previously booted him out), who he told big-fat lies to, and tried to blame it all on his Dad, telling her that they should call the cops on him,! Luckily my sister was there to tell her that he was the one lying and that was not what happened! He needs a good kick up the you-know-where! He needed a few good spankings in his younger years...But it’s probably too late for that now.

Then another drama, my old childhood babysitter/best friend was admitted to hospital (he is 75)… He isn’t doing too badly now, but he is delirious, agitated, scarily skinny and yellow- literally- due to jaundice and his body being unable to expel toxins. He is also really frightened, which is very sad to see, but the Doctors and Nurses looking after him are being very patient and they have been fantastic at explaining what is going on to me.

I was told he will continue to be quite confused for a few more days, while his body recovers from an operation to help him with the toxin-build-up, so fingers crossed for a speedy recovery.

I am lucky I work in Prahran and he was admitted to The Alfred Hospital, so I am able to go visit him every day- which I will endeavour to do, his face lights up when he sees a familiar face and the last thing I want is for him to think I have forgotten him! Friday was the first night I went to visit him and he didn’t look too bad, but he was trying to tie up loose ends and like say ‘goodbye’ to me… And whenever someone came in to administer medication he would mutter ‘it’s too late, it’s too late’. Truth be told, he looks worse off now, and I was in tears seeing him over the weekend- he looked like he was getting worse, not better! I am hoping he is feeling more settled today and allows his body time to recover. He looks very stressed and hasn't slept in days- he thinks the Nurses are "after him," and he barely eats, as he thinks he is being poisioned.

Get well soon, Shorty! xoxo

Milkshake Sugar Frosting... Update

Hi!

I just wanted to do a little update about Milkshake Sugar Frosting that I received last Thursday after workies, as I predicted.

I had somewhat of a busy weekend and didn't get a chance to really give it a good test drive, but my initial thoughts are: expensive dry shampoo, that doesn't do much besides add a sweet scent.

Hopefully my first impressions are proved wrong.

Like I said in my initial post, the rootage aspect of my hair is pretty impressive at the mo', so it is fair to say that the Milkshake Sugar Frosting had its' work cut out, but I really didn't see any concealment of my dark roots at all. Perhaps the powder is more suitable to blondes whose roots aren't as dark as mine- not that mine are actually that dark. I am probably a medium brown.

I will say that the scent is delicious... My hair smelt like an edible sweet vanilla cupcake! Even my BF noticed and commented! Application is also easy- though I am unsure how much product to actually use. It just says "a little goes a long way" and that is all as far as directions go! I sprinkled it quite tentatively onto my roots and used the little brush to spread it through- didn't notice much of a change, maybe a slight duller look of my dark roots but the scent is quite strong but not over-powering in any way at all. I didn't pay full RRP for the product, so if it turns out to be a fancy smelling dry shampoo type-of-thing I won't be too disappointed, but the prospect of being able to cover regrowth is very appealing. I want this product to work!

I don't wash my hair too often- twice a week maximum, so I want to give this stuff another try right after I have washed it and see if I notice any root concealment! I am due to wash my hair tonight... whether or not that will actually happen, is in question. LOL/ew. If I manage to, I will totes update, with photos!

Wishing you all a Sweet Day!

Milkshake Sugar Frosting...

Huh? What was that?? A dessert?? Why would I mention something so deliciously tempting when I am on a quest to change my lifestyle??

No, no, sillies...

Milkshake Sugar Frosting isn't some sort of delicious dessert drink; it's for your hair... obviously!

Apparently, it can help conceal regrowth between salon visits (including greys, if needed), and also doubles as a dry shampoo, absorbing oil and making your hair smell yummy and sweet... Oh and it comes in this adorable little tin!

Major Bonus: AUSTRALIAN MADE!

RRP is AU$60 and a tin will last around 168 applications (why so specific? haha), with each application lasting between 8 and 20 hours*

Used daily, the tin should last you for 6months, but you wouldn't need it every day now, would you? Hopefully roots won't need concealing just after you've just been to the hair dressers or sometime afterwards, for that matter!

I stumbled across this stuff quite some time ago, but I only purchased it yesterday (on a whim, which is weird, considering I had been umm'ing and ahh'ing for donkey's years) and it should be at my PO Box when I go by after workies. And the timing couldn't be more perfect because...

I am between salon visits
My regrowth has been getting me down of late, and making me consider ditching the blonde locks
I am attending a Funeral on Monday and I don't want to go with gross looking hair!

I got Vanilla Cupcake Blonde, but there is a powder to suit most hair colours; Milk Chocolate Brunette, Raspberry Creme Redhead and Boysenberry Black.

I will let you guys know how I go... AND I will post some piccys too. My rootage is so bad at the mo', it's the perfect time to see if this delicious product can live up to its' claims! And after researching online, I couldn't find any pictures to show what the product can do, so I will be posting my results; good or bad.

"Milkshakes Sugar Frosting is a chic easy-to-apply luxurious mineral based hair powder that conceals re-growth including greys and absorbs excess oil whilst helping to keep hair healthy, manageable and revitalised. Naturally preserved and completely free of dyes, alcohol and artificial colours. Milkshake's fabulous formulas are infused with yummy smells. Ideal for use between salon visits, one application of Milkshake's unique formula can last for up to 20 hours."

Sounds good to me!

*apparently there is less product in the pack for blondes! 4 month supply instead of 6.
